April 1993
Merry Christmas – Opps!
It’s only four months after Christmas. FINALLY … I’m sitting down and writing the annual Christmas letter. So, is this a late 1992 letter, or an early 1993? Thank you all for the Christmas cards and your patience. I am sitting in my new "home" . . . so to speak. The Raddison, in Chicago, Ill. Has been my home for the past three months.
MY JOB: December 31st was my last day working for Nelson Marketing. The new computer system I installed for them gave me some new found knowledge. This knowledge and working myself out of a job led me to start my own computer consulting business. My company name is "Myriad Solutions."
My 1993 schedule is January to April: In Chicago. April: North Carolina & New Orleans. May: back in Chicago. June & July: Boulder, Colorado & back to North Carolina. Then in August I’m unemployed again (I do have some leads).
1992 TRIPS:
Boulder Colorado – Last year, February to April I spent seven weeks on business in Boulder developing software for Nelson Marketing. Rigden, Inc. has a product called "ACT – I" it is programmed in Advanced Pick, with a 4GL called Symbion. Rigden’s software is designed for company’s who market via direct mail using catalogs.
Ballinger, Texas - In June, my sister Ruth married Jack. I spent a few days in the heat of Texas with my dad, step-mother, several friends and family who attended the wedding.
Prior Lake, Minnesota – I spent a weekend in September at my god mother Sylvia’s home. Her and Fritz are raising ostriches. What a wild farm they have.
Mansfield, Mass. – In December, I went home for Christmas. Don, my stepfather, and I threw a Christmas party. I saw friends and relatives who I haven’t seen in years. It was great.
AT THE RACES: In June, Dave Ewald and I went to the SCCA Sprint car races, and in August we went to the Indy car races both at Elkhart Lake, WI. I got to see Mario & Michael Andretti, Bobby Rahal. Oh yeah, Paul Newman says, "Hi." I didn’t talk to any of them, but I got close enough to get some good photos.
HEALTH: In December, I had a physical, blood test, etcetera, first one in close to ten years. My blood sugar and cholesterol levels are in the low range of normal (it’s ok!) I could stand to lose about twenty pounds and two inches around my waist. There are more glimmers of gray running through my hair and beard then I wish to admit. But, that’s the mature look, right?
AN INSIGHT ON FIRENDSHIP: A couple of days ago I had dinner with a friend Mike Kenniston. Mike and I attended Norton High School 1972-1973. We both spent most of our high school time in either the computer room or playing chess. We had not seen each other since 1973, twenty years. We both agreed it felt like it has only been a year since we last saw each other. I think that’s what is so great about my relationship with each one of you, and true friendship in general. No matter how long is has been since we last talked it’s like it was yesterday.
PERSONAL REVIEW: This year I saw my thirty-sixth birthday, and each year seems to be getting better. It’s great to have job which allows me to travel, and I love what I do. I want to thank each one of you for your influence on my life, I am a better person because of all my friends and family … because of you.
